And then she is down for the count

On Sunday, while E.H.B. was interviewing me, she was wrapped up in a blanket "freezing." I thought it was a little odd, since I'm the one who is usually cold, and I felt very comfortable. And sure enough, by the time she went to bed she was feeling pretty rotten and running a fever. We are going on to day 5 with sickness in the house and Princess Ballerina went down for the count today.

Captain America "wants to get sick" (so he can stay home from school too) but we know a little virus can't take down Captain America.

He is rushing out the door to handball practice now. I'm looking forward to Sunday when I get to watch my first handball game.

In the mean time, we have been having fun around the house. We have made up songs and dances to entertain each other. We have read books and watched a movie (well E.H.B. watched the whole movie, I just watched the first half and last minute. The rest of the time I napped in the chair.)

Princess Ballerina was able to make it through a sewing lesson this morning. She made a potholder, just like E.H.B. and her friends did at the birthday party.
Earlier in the week, Captain America worked on a glass etching project. Unfortunately, it did not work so well. So more glass etching cream arrived in the mail today, so we can try it again.

Last night, International J and I had an awesome adventure playing volleyball. Captain America came along with us.
When I play volleyball at home, I am the oldest on my team. Last night, I got to enjoy being the youngest....by about 10 years. The oldest player on my team last night was 80 years old. As you may imagine, it was a little different in intensity. I was more worried about hurting one of my teammates than I was about getting creamed in the face with a spike. International J and I had so much fun! It has been about 20 years since we played volleyball together. We were too busy playing to take any photos at the gym, so instead I snapped a photo of my shoes and knee pads after we got home.

This is pair 1 of 4 that made the cut to fit in my suitcase. Shortly before I left, the conversation at the office lunch table was about how many pairs of shoes I am packing. It is always a dilemma. Here is what I ended up with:

These are my "house shoes." Everyone changes into house shoes when they come into the house. As you can imagine with sick kids in the house, these are the shoes I have worn the most. :)

I also brought my brown boots. I wore these to church and several days walking to pick up the kids from school and running errands.

(Princess Ballerina is reading over my shoulder and is completely confused why I need to take pictures of my shoes. "You should just write - I brought 4 pairs of shoes." She gave me the cutest confused look while I tried to explain why I should include photos. She is not a shoe person.)

The last pair is my black leather pair. They are the best, most versatile pair I have. They are perfect for walking to the flower shop to buy tulips.

So while I was not able to fit everything in my suitcases (they weighed too much) I was able to bring all of my shoes. I am hoping to add my traditional pair of souvenir shoes to my suitcases for the trip home....if the kids let me leave.
